I knew the war through the dramatic stories of my father, born in Torre del Greco (Naples) in 1936. My father lived in first person the bombing of Naples, then the entrance of the American troops, seen by his eyes as astronauts. The poverty in the countryside people was total and they had never seen a chewing gum or a Jeep. I decided to fix in my memory war scenes taken from a book called “Atlas zum II. Weltkrieg” bought at a flea market in Vienna during my visit to the retrospective dedicated to Gerhard Richter at the Albertina Museum..
